Do I need a background in planning or geography to join?
Not at all. While we highlight spatial and place-based concepts, everything is designed to be accessible. You don’t need to be a planner or designer—we meet you where you are and show how to apply these strategies directly to your field.

Is there a cost to participate?
Yes. The program has a fee, with options based on the track you choose. We encourage participants to use professional development or business training budgets. For nonprofit leaders and small firms, we offer limited sliding scale opportunities to ensure access.

Can I participate if I’m outside the U.S.?
Yes! Rooted and Reach is fully virtual and open to international participants. While some case studies are U.S.-focused, the strategies—authentic engagement, place-based equity, and community trust—apply globally.
